OIL & GAS INDUSTY
J Flow Controls has been selling valves and supporting into the pipeline upstream, midstream, and downstream side of the oil and gas industry for many years. J Flow Controls sets itself apart from other valve companies:
- By offering trunnion valves as well as two-piece, three-piece, three-ways and control valves;
- By offering a wide range of sizes, including large diameter valves, with valves ranging from 1/2” to 60” ANSI 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500. Many valve companies offerings only range up to 24” in diameter but not anything larger;
- By offering complete automated packages.
Industrial Ball Valves for the Oil & Gas Industry
J Flow 2-Way Ball Valve Spring Return Handle, Series SR
J-Flow's SR Series, spring return handle (also called dead man handle) was well designed as a heavy duty type for long term operation. The most characteristic of the SR Series is the locking device option.
The SR Series is designed to mount upon the ISO 5211 direct mounting pad. This will be convenient to replace a standard handle to a SR series. It is easy to replace the handles after long term service without discarding the entire valve. It is also economical to stock the spring handles separately.

Contoured Trim (Thread & Quick Change Trim)
The contoured plug is design with a specially represented valve plug head. The plug head represent defines the flow characteristic through the valve, and offers a smooth profile to the flow leading to a high pressure recovery. The trim is most suited to low pressure drop application and is used in the majority of control applications.
Contoured Soft Seat Trim
An alternative of the standard contoured plug is the soft seated option.
The plug head is manufactured with a clamped on shroud which locks the soft seated ring in position. When the soft face contacts the seating point it deforms the softer ring ensuring a high degree of closure. The soft faced plug is used on applications where bubble tight shut off is required.
Tendril (Multi-hole, Multi-stage) Trim
The trim design presented is a multi-stage, multi-hole trim. There are 1 ~ 5 Stage designs available depending on pressure drop and potential for cavitation. The fluid passes through the flow path generated by incorporating angled flats onto the surface of the plug, together with a cut out on the internal diameter of the seat. The pressure drop is apportioned across the stages of letdown so that the pressure drop progressively reduces as it passes through the stages of the trim. This gives excellent resistance to cavitation on high pressure drop applications. For very high pressure drop applications the plug and seat insert would be manufactured from tungsten carbide or glass metallic optionally.
Multi-Grooved (Cascade) Trim
Cascade trim for non-compressible fluid applications is designed for any number of grooves of required pressure drop to meet the specifications for preventing cavitation from occurring and eventual erosion. There are 8~9 grooves designs available depending on pressure drop and potential for cavitation. The fluid passes through the flow path generated by incorporating angled flats onto the surface of the plug, together with a cut out on the internal surface of the seat. The pressure drop is apportioned across the stages of letdown so that the pressure drop progressively reduces as it passes through the grooves of the trim. This gives excellent resistance to cavitation on high pressure drop applications. For very high pressure drop applications the plug and seat insert would be manufactured from tungsten carbide or advanced glass metallic optionally.
Micro Trim
The micro trim designs a seat guided construction, capable of handling high pressure drops, without instability problems. This trim design has an inherent flow characteristic of Linear of Modified Equal Percentage, and has excellent rangeability. It is an ideal selection for the control of very low flow rates.
For very high pressure drop applications, or flows which would have potential cavitation, there are multi-stage options of this design (5 stages maximum), and there are also applicable tungsten carbide and advanced glass metallic options for pressure drops greater than 1450 psi.

^topJ Flow 9800DS Series Dual Seated Metal or Soft Seated Trunnion Ball Valves
Description
The seat material of general purpose ball valves employ generally non-metal material, such as PTFE. Limited by the seat material, the general purpose ball valve cannot be used in case of high temperature applications and applications with solid articles and ash dregs. So the application scope of general purpose ball valves is restricted partially. Taking this into consideration, we offer a full range of metal to metal seated ball valves, including floating ball valves and trunnion ball valves, which are found in extensive applications such as petroleum, chemistry, power, metal allurgy and light industries.
Design Features of Trunnion Ball Valve
Metal to metal sealed design has been employed perfectly for the ball and seat, which has also adopted the advanced hardening technologies, such as ultrasonic spray coating, nickel base spray welding, surface specially hardening, satellite spray welding, ceramic material with high strength, and hardness, etc. Surface hardness of the ball and seat may generally reach more than HRC60, maximum up to HRC74, and application temperature of the material may be up to 1004°F, maximum up to 1796°F. Combining strength of the material gets to more than 1000 psi. Besides, the surface materials posses very good resistance properties of friction and impact. Metal to metal sealed ball valves are suitable for use in most critical working conditions.
High Temperature Working Conditions
In the case of high temperature working conditions, the valve seat and ball would easily get stuck due to heat expansion, and the valve could not be opened. Metal to metal sealed ball valves employ the patented design of belleville spring loading, which would absorb the heat expansion of parts caused by the belleville spring. So, it is ensured that the valve would not get stuck and could open and close easily in the case of high temperature conditions.
- Features and Benefits of Dual Seated / Metal Seated Valve:
- ASME/ANSI B16.10
- API 6FA
- NACE MR 0175 compliance
- Wall thickness complies with B16.34.
- J-Flow's single seat ball valve has a flat spring set acting through a hard face bearing against the bottom ball shaft which provides sufficient initial ball-seat load for valve tightness, even at low psi.
- J-Flow's design provides freedom for thermal expansion of the ball without jamming even at high temperatures.
- Tightness rate allowable leakage rate at full psi, ASME/FC170-2 Class V with special lapping, tighter shutoff available upon request.
- Typical applications can be found in the petro-chemical, oil refining, iron ore processing, filter skids, and sulfur removal.
- Designed to ASME/ANSI B16.5, B16.10, B16.34, B31.1, B31.4 and B31.8 standards.
- All metal seated trunnion valves come standard with grease fittings
